How To Choose A Spa

You′ve decided it′s time to get a facial, consult with an esthetician about your skin, or simply time to renew and relax at the spa. But you don′t know where to start in order to find the right spa for your needs. Here is how to make sure you receive the best spa experience possible.

How To Know If You′ve Found A Good Spa

Now that you′ve collected quite a few recommendations about spas how do you know that you′ve found a good one? Here are a few tips to guide you:

  • Prompt and friendly greeting either in person or on the phone - are you made to feel welcome from the moment you start interacting with the spa? For me this is an essential part of a good spa experience.
  • Cleanliness, cleanliness, cleanliness - I simply cannot stress this enough! Even if you don′t like the decor of the spa you′ve chosen put that aside for a moment. A spa could be beautiful but if it is dirty turn around and leave. A spa that isn′t clean can actually pose a health threat to the people who go there.
  • Are your questions answered patiently, courteously, and fully? Since you might want to learn more about a service or have other questions about the spa like pricing a good spa should be happy to answer any and all questions. If you are given the run around about the details or price of a service I would be wary.
  • A good spa should help you feel relaxed and take away your stress so if you are a spa that tries to aggressively get you to try different services or buy products in my opinion this spa isn′t being managed properly. Certainly the spa can try to upgrade services and attempt to make sales but should do so in a way that doesn′t make the client feel uncomfortable or put upon.
  • Ask about licensing and registration. Unfortunately there are no federal regulations for spas or medical spas, but states do have different requirements. Asking about the spas licensing and regulations is particularly important if you want to go to a medical spa. If you get the run around about this important issues I would definitely move along.
