Foods That Banish Dry Skin
With all due respect to moisturizer sometimes you need to think of a few new ways to nourish and care for your skin. One great way to ensure you have beautiful skin is to care for your skin from the inside out by paying attention to both the foods you eat and to what you drink. Especially during the winter when many people suffer from dry, irritated, and itchy skin changing up your diet can help you skin look and feel its best.
Drink Up and Eat Your Water
In a past article about dehydrated skin I wrote that drinking lots of water will not solve the issue of dehydrated skin though I did explain that in order to stay healthy and have healthy skin we need proper hydration. So if your skin is chronically dry take stock of what you are drinking. How much water do you actually drink during the day as opposed to caffeinated or alcoholic beverages? Though experts still don′t agree just how much water you need to drink during the day they do agree that in order for your body to function properly and to have healthy skin you need to drink water.
Lifestyle choices and circumstances can determine how much water you need during the day. If you are sick or exercise a lot you′ll need more water than someone who has a more sedentary lifestyle. You can take this quiz in order to help you figure out how much water you need every day. Another important way to hydrate is to consume foods that water; about 20% of our water intake comes from the foods we eat. Fruits and vegetables are the obvious choices for foods that have high water content and can help hydrate the body. Foods with high water content include: cucumbers, tomatoes, celery, watermelon, grapefruit, and cantaloupe - just to name a few.
